Where can I learn to dance in Maputo?
At Dance Spot, Av. Armando Tivane 690, 1st floor, Maputo. Nine years teaching the city to dance, with four studios, ten styles and a free trial class: register or show up ten minutes before any beginners' class.
Which dance styles can I learn at Dance Spot?
Ten styles: kizomba, tango, salsa, bachata, swing, afro-house, zumba, hip-hop, traditional African dances and Kids classes, most with beginner and intermediate levels, plus a weekly technique class on Fridays.
How much do dance classes cost in Maputo?
At Dance Spot a drop-in class costs 550 MZN and your first trial class is free. Monthly plans: 2 classes/week 2,100 MZN, 4 classes 3,750 MZN, 6 classes 5,700 MZN (couple prices available). Kids: 2,500 MZN/month. Enrolment: 550 MZN.
Where can I dance kizomba in Maputo at night?
At Dance Spot's Kizomba Thursdays: every Thursday from 6pm to 10pm at Bella Madallena restaurant and lounge, with kizomba, semba, urban kiz and kompa by djs Nollas and Babete. Minimum spend 400 MZN.
Where can I dance salsa and bachata in Maputo?
At Latin Wednesdays: every Wednesday from 6pm to 10pm at Bella Madallena, with tango, salsa, bachata and swing by dj Nollas. For salon tango there is La Milonga, on the second Saturday of every month.
What is kizomba?
Kizomba is a partner dance born in Angola in the 1980s, child of semba, danced in close embrace with grounded steps and deep musicality. It is lusophone Africa's most loved social dance, and in Maputo you learn it and dance it at Dance Spot.
Are there dance classes for children in Maputo?
Yes: Dance Spot's Kids classes run Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:00pm to 4:30pm, for 2,500 MZN a month (two classes a week), with a 20% discount for siblings.
